Pirate Nation – Battles and Gameplay System

Without a doubt, the battles in Pirate Nation are becoming increasingly difficult, and it is very important to improve our accounts, both the ships and the pirates. Additionally, it is becoming more crucial to understand some key details (very important) during battles and regarding the enemies.

In this section, I will try to explain and give you some tips that might be very useful.

AFFINITY

Each pirate has their own Expertise and Affinity. Knowing the affinity of our pirate and that of the enemies is crucial when fighting battles.

In this diagram, we can see that each affinity adds an extra 10% damage to another affinity and, consequently, takes an extra 10% damage from another affinity.

Example:

This pirate is of the WATER type, so they will deal an extra 10% damage to enemies of the FIRE type, but will receive 10% more damage from enemies of the AIR type.

Understanding this is very important when engaging in battles (ideally, it is advisable to have one pirate of each type to rotate them during encounters).

ENEMY ATTACK CYCLES

Each enemy has a specific attack cycle, and knowing these is essential when using our cards—or saving them for the next round.

Another important aspect in this section is knowing the type of attack the enemies have, in order to create a deck suited to each encounter.

Some possible examples:

If enemies predominantly use aerial attacks (AOE), then having evasion cards would not be very smart. In this case, the deck should focus on defense, attacks, and healing.
If enemies mainly use bleeding attacks, it would be wise to have cards to remove these effects, along with some evasion and attack cards.
If enemies have a lot of evasion, it would be advisable to have a deck with AOE attack cards, counterattacks to quickly eliminate these effects, etc.
If enemies have a lot of shields, it might be a good idea to use bleeding attacks and cards that remove effects from enemies.

These are just a few examples based on the enemies' attacks and attack cycles. To create decks, I recommend using this deck builder tool, which is very easy to use and super helpful.

ATTACHMENTS

Each ship has a certain number of slots where you can add extra items, which will give you some cards and allow you to create a deck suitable for each battle.

These items can be obtained in crafting buildings or bought in the game’s marketplace.

Remember, while you can add more than one of the same item, only one of the repeated items will be valid. Also, you can replace items with others, but keep in mind that the replaced item will be burned (it will not return to your inventory).

UNDERSTANDING HOW THE CARDS WORK

Without a doubt, understanding how each card works is crucial for the battles.

Some important points:

Evasion cards are only useful for direct attacks; they do NOT evade AOE.
Effect-removal cards can be used on your own pirates or on enemies (e.g., "Poseidon’s Blessing" cannot be used on enemies).
“Stack the Deck” is a very important card (in my opinion) because it not only searches for a card in your deck and places it at the top of the stack, but it also allows me to see the ORDER in which the next cards will appear. This, combined with the enemy attack cycles, allows me to create a proper strategy during the battle.
If you use any evasion, don’t add a damage reduction card, because it will disappear with the evasion.

These are just a few examples, but I recommend you take a moment to analyze each card to build a better strategy during battles.

Lastly, two more tips:

DO NOT rush to play the cards in each round; analyze the best play.
Remember, you can select a card and drag it to the enemy you want, thereby focusing on a particular target.
Try to create decks of 40 cards, this way you will improve the rotation.
